I create functional and sculptural objects in wood, focusing on small, hand-held containers.
The work begins with the material: harvested wood and fragments from earlier projects. Each piece is shaped using a combination of industrial and hand tools, then refined through long periods of sanding.
I am drawn to forms that move, curving, gestural shapes interrupted by moments of sharp edge or unexpected change. Within these forms, quiet mechanisms emerge: a lid that lifts, a drawer that slides.
Each object balances precision with irregularity, allowing the character of the wood to remain present in the final piece.
